The Scratching Post CU is a themed cafe in Champaign, Illinois. It is listed at 114 E University Ave, Champaign, IL 61820, which places it among the local businesses of Champaign that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. The most common schedule is 2–10 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday, Tuesday. Champaign is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. Getting around Champaign is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Illinois's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

What a wonderful space! Especially go if you love cats, but I'd also recommend for anyone just looking for a fun way to spend an hour. There are two separate spaces: one where you interact with the cats, and an actual cafe. The space where you interact with the cats requires reservations, and they are often too booked for walk-ins, so plan ahead. The cats are so very lovey and fun. Some of them are super playful, others want to cuddle, it's a great mix. I don't know how they all get along so well. The cats are all adoptable, so if you are looking to adopt, you'll get to spend lots of time with them to see their personalities and how they interact. The cat space itself is a cat's paradise... all manner of comfy places to sit, cat toys, places to climb... you'll even see some cats sleeping on the rafters above. VERY clean, too. These are some lucky kitties to get to stay here until they find their forever homes. The rest of the cafe is fantastic, as well, and doesn't need reservations. They have a small but very well-curated and fairly-priced food and drink selection (including alcohol), as well as board games, and some nice cat paraphernalia for purchase. The atmosphere throughout

The workers were all friendly and so welcoming. I met the owner, who is very sweet, and she seems to put a lot of love into this place. The space is beautiful and so clean, including the cat lounge! There appeared to be around 25-30 cats in the lounge. All of the cats were so sweet, and many of them enjoyed being pet/played with

I loved this place so much while I was visiting my boyfriend! It was my first time going to a cat cafe and honestly this one in particular is my special favorite. I thought the massive shelves filled to the brim with different boardgames and tabletop games was extremely cool! Also the kitties are up for adoption. The gray one actually laid in my lap (I've never had a cat lay in my lap... I felt like the chosen one)

I've been to many cat cafΓ©s, but this is definitely my favorite one that I've been to! It is 100% worth the price for the experience that you get. The cats are taken care of very well. There are many places for them to climb to their heart's content, including a really cute giant cat tree that looks like an actual tree! There are many toys, couches, shelves, and even their own cat TV! We were also able to go to a cat who lived in a separate room who had her own little radio with music playing and her own toys and furniture. This cafΓ© seems to be very accommodating to cats of different personalities and preferences, which I really liked. There's a separate part of the cafΓ© that serves drinks and food and also has shelves and shelves of board games that you can play! Overall, The Scratching Post is such a cool place, and I would highly recommend coming here, whether it is to play with cats or play a board game!

We visited The Scratching Post while down visiting my nephew. Wow! What a fantastic place! Beautifully decorated cafΓ© that serves drinks and snacks. You can meet up with friends and play board games and hangout. You can also purchase a ticket to spend time In the cat room with the many adaptable cats in the Cafe. An absolutely chill and joyful experience to spend time with these beautiful animals! We got to play and interact with many cats, this was better than Disney World for me! Highly recommend of you are looking for something different to do! Thank you for this beautiful place!
